ABM     SMOTHERED OKRA

INSTRUCTIONS
In a large skillet cook ½ cup chopped onion; ½ cup chopped green pepper; and 2 cloves garlic, minced, in 2 tablespoons margarine or butter about 5 minutes or till tender. Stir in 2 cups sliced okra or one 10-ounce package frozen cut okra, thawed; 2 cups chopped, peeled tomatoes; ½ teaspoon salt; 1/8 teaspoon ground red pepper. Bring to boiling; reduce heat. Cover and simmer for 20 to 30 minutes for fresh okra (15 minutes for thawed okra) or till okra is very tender. If desired, sprinkle with crumbled, crisp-cooked bacon.
