In 1983 the Alabama Birmingham Mission of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints officially adopted the Mission Coat-of-Arms consisting of the following items:

 

Crown of Immortality

And if thou art faithful unto the end thou shalt have a crown of immortality. . . .

 

Shield of Faith

D&C 27:17-Taking the shield of faith wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

 

Sword of My Spirit

Ephesians 6:17-The sword of my spirit which is the word of God.

 

D&c 5:2- Which is quick and powerful, sharper than a two-edged sword, to the dividing asunder of both joints and marrow:  therefore give heed unto my words.

 

Romans 10:15- And how shall they preach except they be sent? As it is written, how beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace and bring glad tidings of good things!

 

Olive Branch

Jacob 5:67- And the branches of the natural tree will I graft in again into the natural tree.

 

Banner and Motto 

The motto, Mensura Veritatis Erecta Est, translates to:  The Standard of Truth has been erected.

 

Alabama Flag, Bible, and Book for Mormon

The Alabama flag represents the major portion of the area the Alabama Birmingham Mission serves

 

Ezekiel 37:19- Say unto them, thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph . . . and will put them with him even with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they shall be one in mine hand.

 

Zion

D&C 14:6- Seek to bring forth and establish my zion. Keep my commandments in all things.

 

I Nephi 13:37- And blessed are they who shall seek to bring forth my zion at that day, for they shall have the gift and the power of the Holy Ghost.

 

Moses 7:18- And the Lord called his people zion because they were of one heart and one mind and dwelt in righteousness.

 

Sickle and White Field

D&C 4:4- For behold, the field is white already to harvest; and lo, he that thrusteth in his sickle with his might, the same layeth up in store that he perisheth not, but bringeth salvation to his soul.

Mississippi Flag  and Angel with Trump

The Mississippi flag represents the four counties in Mississippi that the Alabama Mission serves.

 

Revelation 14:6- And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people.
